Jack Fenn Courtyard Cafe

Jack Fenn's Courtyard Cafe is Ballina's new foodie destination situated in the courtyard at Belleek Castle. The cafe itself is housed in the former 1820's stables & coach house at Belleek Castle. The exterior brickwork & character has been restored and the interior design of the building has been given a modern design inspired by the life of Jack Fenn, a sailor & adventurer! Jack Fenn's Courtyard Cafe recently won the award for "Best Newcomer in Connaught 2018" at the Irish Restaurant Awards and Cafe of the year 2019” on Georgina Campbell’s Ireland guide

At Jack Fenn's we use only the best quality and locally sourced ingredients in our cafes food and homemade produce. We use freshly ground coffee beans sourced from BeanWest Roasters in Westport, County Mayo. We have our own house blend which is unique to Jack Fenn's. We have a wide range of teas sourced from the Irish Tea Company in County Roscommon. We offer an amazing brunch/lunch menu with a wide range of sandwiches, wraps, salads, soup, sharing platters, boards of charcuterie and our homemade desserts which are to die for! We also have a lovely range of wines hand picked to go with our food and a range of beers sourced from Reel Deel Craft Beers from Crossmolina, County Mayo.

The food isn’t the only thing you’ll marvel at in Jack Fenn’s Courtyard Café – the setting also makes for a great experience. Situated in the old stable buildings adjacent to the Castle, in this intimate but quirky space, lovingly created by Lilly Lenahan & Crean Kitchens, working with local tradesmen, many of the materials from Belleek Castle have been beautifully repurposed to create an environment that reflects both the history of the castle and the Wild Atlantic landscape in which we live.

We won’t give away the secret, but don’t forget to ask about the story behind the large table in the centre of the café! And of course there is the story of Jack Fenn the sailor & smuggler! You can learn more about the life of Jack Fenn in the tour of Belleek Castle, available daily from 11am till 4pm.

"There once was a sailor called Jack Fenn, who got himself into a tight spot! Jcack bought a passport from an Irishman called Marshall Doran and bought himself a castle!"

Check out a review of Jack Fenn on “Where Is My Teaspoon?”, a Home Baking & Lifestyle blog by Sinéad Farrell. Glad to hear she enjoyed our scones & cakes and we are delighted to hear Jack Fenn delivers on setting, coffee, sweets and atmosphere.

Ballina has been waiting far too long for a cafe like this... but boy was it it worth the wait! Delicious food, gorgeous veggie options, gluten & dairy free catered for, nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Belleek Woods, its a light filled, spacious and contemporary cafe that hasn't forgotten its castle roots.. Looking forward to becoming a regular customer. Best of luck, I doubt ye'll need it!

What an amazing experience! A superbly designed cafe that oozes class and an atmosphere that is equivalent to a warm embrace from your best friend. We left with our taste buds dancing with joy having being served food fit for the gods. Jack Fenn will become the talk of the west with a cupboard stacked full of celebratory trophies

Was in for lunch today, soup was delicious courgette and fennel soup with toasted seeded brown bread. The coffee and scones after was really good. Its my second visit and would highly recommend it as a great place for eating, stylish interior, lovely atmosphere and will definitely recommend to family & friends and be back in again myself!
